This segment operates approximately 1,045 service stations and 204 convenience stores.

The Gas and Power segment engages in sourcing, commercialization, and distribution of natural gas and power generation principally in Portugal.

This segment operates 9,014 kilometers of natural gas distribution network.

In addition, the company has a partnership with The Buzi Company to produce vegetable oil ad bio-diesel from oil seeds.

It also operates in Spain, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, and Brazil.

Galp Energia was founded in 1999.

It was formerly known as GALP -- Petroleos e Gas de Portugal SGPS, S.A. and changed its name to Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. in 2000.

The company is headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal.
